I have purchased a new Sony L3 PAYG. I have inserted the new SIM card. There is no sd card with the phone. I've set the phone up and connected it to the internet however I cannot make any calls or receive any calls?. I have tried inserting a SIM from my old Sony phone also on O2 and nothing.

Am I inserting the SIM correctly? - on the tray for the SIM and SD card there is only room for 1 SIM card the other position for a SIM has been filled in so that a 2nd SIM cannot be placed. the SD card area of the tray remains empty.

Does the phone require a SD Card in order to make & receive call?.

I have yet to top up any credit on this phone - but surely I should be able to receive calls?

Any ideas anyone?

PAYG sim cards aren't activated until you top it up.

Purchased from O2 Shop online.....

I'll read your "How to Top up PAYG" notes......I'm hoping I can do this online as the phone is for my mother.

I'm just surprised that the old SIM that has plenty of credit on it didnt work??

Thanks so much fo the quick reply....

Yes, the old sim should work which was why I wondered where you got the phone, in case it was faulty.

I would try the top up first though, but you may need to use a voucher the first time.

If not, it will need to go to the shop to be checked out.
