iPhone 6s upgrade to iPhone 12 sim issues

We upgraded from an iPhone 6s to iPhone 12 yesterday. A 5G sim was put into the iPhone 6s and a new sim was put into the iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 has been set up however, the sim has no service. The iPhone 6s is still active and working. The iPhone 12 will only accept calls when it’s beside the iPhone 6s. I’ve tried everything I can think of but I can’t get the iPhone 12 sim to work.

Do I need to go onto MyO2 and action a Sim Swap for the iPhone 12 sim to work, and to deactivate the one in the iPhone 6s? 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
