Samsung Tab A7 won't charge

I got a Samsung Tab A7 recently and, after I'd charged it upon receipt it charged very slowly indeed the first time it ran out of electricity and now I need to charge it again, it just won't charge. Is it faulty or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.
