After a lengthy period where there was apparently work being carried out locally, the signal strength indoors is very poor indeed - and actually worse near a window - and poor unless I stand in the middle of the road. none else in Bowdon struggling with O2 telephone signal weakness (certainly not strength).

Hi @MichaelC - a quick check against your postcode shows the O2 signal to be good in your area. All I can suggest is to try some of the suggestions in here, starting with a reboot of your phone and a check to see there are no pending updates to be applied to it: Guide: How can I sort out my network issues?
Please do reply here with how you fare, in case it is a phone-specific issue that needs a repair.
