I've just upgraded from phone to tablet but now can't call or take calls after activating sim.
Does the new sim go in my old phone or tablet.?

If you upgraded, you will have lost the number to your phone. You needed a new sim for your tablet.
You'll need to call O2.

Advice from an O2 Guru regarding a way to get through:
If you call 202, when it comes to the reason you are calling stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to an advisor.
Press Upgrade, Lost/Stolen or Fraud if you have to.

Tablets are data only contracts so it isn't possible to make calls.

The sim will be a data sim for your tablet
You need to call CS to get your old number back
