Share unused data with those in need during lockdown

How can we do this?  I have plenty of data left once I've used what I need - be great to share it with kids who don't have enough to be able to access learning resources.

What can I do?  What is O2 doing to support those in need?

Thanks.

Hey all,

While this is a great idea, it's not currently possible and as far as we're aware, not something any of the UK network operators are able to provide. As mentioned above we do have our Sharer Plans, though this is more intended for sharing data across a household.

We have just published some news though that we'll be supporting home schooling families with 40GB of data, on us. More info and details over here.

You need a sharer plan @Hilary1

https://www.o2.co.uk/sharer-plans

The only other way would be to allow the kids to tether from your phone

Turn on mobile hotspot on your phone.
  1. To tether on an iPhone: Go to Settings - Personal Hotspot, or Settings - General - Network - Personal Hotspot. Slide the switch to On.
  2. To tether on an Android: Go to Settings - Wireless and networks - Tethering and portable hotspot. Tick the box for Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot.

I think this is a great idea, but not one that any network is working on.
@Chris_K perhaps a suggestion to "share" data that has been paid for but not used to allow others to access school learning material?

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply @Chris_K.
Didn't think it would be feasible, but am just reading the other thread you mentioned.
