She can use it via wifi and bluetooth but not with the mobile data watch plan.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

It will no different if she has her phone with her, but it won't work without the phone nearby.

If her network allows the use of the Apple watch and you want to gift her one, you'd be better off buying from Apple directly as they are not tied to any network.

To release the watch you have now, would need you to pay it off completely and Apple do an installment plan so it can be paid for monthly.

You can return the O2 watch within 28 days if not suitable for you.
