Offers not available to me as an existing O2 customer

Hello,

I've been an O2 customer for years and I have now paid off my phone and am looking to move to a better SIM only contract. However the deals I'm being offered through my O2 are terrible compared to the ones offered online to new customers. Difference of 9GB compared to 100GB per month for the same price.

I could buy a SIM card and then transfer over the number but I'd prefer not to do that. Without speaking to an O2 sales person online I dont see how I can try and get the same deal. Any ideas on how to achieve this when we can't phone or get webchat service?

Thanks

@hfg2

If you choose UPGRADE to sim only the prices are good.

I don't think they are bad at all. One of our long time members recently changed to a £20 month deal where you get 100GB data and unlimited calls and minutes

https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/sim-cards/sim-only-deals#deviceType=phone&contractLength=P12M

Also if you upgrade everything is done online. No need to contact O2 at all. The  details are changed on your account automatically.

Hope that helps.

hmmm, no. OP is correct. existing customers moving to sim only get naff deals (20gb for £21) and new sim only deals are better (20gb for £8)

telling them WHERE to upgrade doesnt resolve the issue that deals offered to existing customers are awful

@angryconsumer89 You can discuss it with customer service.
Call 202 from your mobile or 0800 032 1402 from any phone or numbers here: Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support

When it comes to the reason you are calling, stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
Say 'Upgrade', 'Lost/Stolen', or 'Fraud' if the suggestion above doesn't get you through.
Best time to call is 8 am.
You can also reach O2 via social media:

The 20GB for £8 plan is currently available for existing customers under "Offers" in the MyO2 app.  You get the option to change your current plan or purchase an extra plan when you click through to the checkout.
