hi, when I recently went to Turkey I paid each day for the use of data and it was absolutely useless, nothing ever loaded with the data, I was charged for it even though it never worked. It was completely useless and not to mention very dangerous, I was in a country I didn’t know and couldn’t even gain access to anything, including any maps/ directions or social media, complete waste of time and money. I want a refund for it all.

Very much doubt o2 will refund you anything, as you pay for data, calls and texts in the £6 per day, and data service is dependent on the local network operator in Turkey.
And if you made or received call then the £6 would have applied anyway..
But give o2 a try, call them on 202 or 0344 809 0202 or via the socials Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)

If you connect to the network and you use something (even 1Kb of background data) which you wouldn't notice then the charge kicks in. I suspect there were quite a few background data connections during your stay.

If you do not get anywhere with Customer Services, I suggest that you contact O2's complaints team. Please see :-

Customer+Complaints+code+250523.pdf (o2.co.uk)

You don't want to complain as such ; just set-out what has happened and ask for an ex-gratia compensatory gesture given that you paid for data that you could not use. You will not get a refund of what you paid, but you might find that you get a modest credit to your account.
Good luck and please keep us informed of developments.

@Oxonian Can't see why it's a viable complaint. If the customer had the phone switched on then background data when trying apps would trigger the charge. Then they would have to prove that the data speed was down to O2 and not the Turkish networks

Have to agree with @Enlli @Oxonian
This is a spurious claim, and o2 have every right to tell the op to jog on... and its up to the op to prove it was o2 and not the Turkish network, as they charge has been made as the local masts have seen the phone make a connection, and a phone call or sms has been sent or received..
No complaint is required, and is a waste of time and effort.. and will be closed instantly....
