I’m hoping someone can help. I upgraded my pay monthly plan today and opted to take an eSIM thinking this would be simple as it was simply an upgrade.  I looked on my o2 straight away and there was no sign of any eSIM and the help articles didn’t really help so I guessed it would be included in the emails confirming the new contract.  Nope.

My phone now seems to have turned off the phone signal and I can’t make or receive calls or texts.   So it seems I need to log in to my o2 to download the eSIM but I can’t do that because I don’t have the eSIM! There are no options but to receive a text when logging in.  And to make matters worse I’m currently relying on my mobile as my landline isn’t working … ironically it’s the reason I made sure I upgraded my contract to keep those costs down ..so I can’t ring from anywhere at the moment.

is there any other way to either log in or get my eSIM if I have no phone line??

We’re just customers like you but it sounds like you’ll need someone to access your account which can’t be done from here. If you message O2 using the links below, they should be able to help you with this

or give them a call on 202  or 0344 809 0202

Thank you.  I’ve messaged them on X but it looks said they won’t get back to me until at least tomorrow so I was hoping someone may have had the same issue and found a solution. The phone won’t call out though so ironically I can’t ring them to get a solution - I’m hoping I can deal with it by online chat in the morning 🤞🏻

Unfortunately, the way things have been set up by O2 this has become a major problem

There is no way round at the moment but for future reference add another number to your contact details in MyO2 so you can get the code sent to that instead of your phone.

This problem is one of the reasons we warn people off eSIMs on O2. Too much hassle

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

If the online chat does not solve this for you, a trip to your local O2 retail sore might be worthwhile :-

Store locator | O2 UK | Find Your Nearest O2 Store

https://stores.o2.co.uk/

Hopefully they will provide you with a new SIM or eSIM and set it up for you. Please remember to take photo ID with you. 👍

All sorted thanks everyone - the online chat only works via my o2 after log in which is equally daft that you can’t talk to someone about not being about to get into my O2 unless you are in my o2.

Thankfully my landline issue has resolved and I managed to call them.  They’ve switched my original SIM card back on and that has done the trick.  It wouldn’t let me add another phone number via my mobile but I’ll get on the computer and see if I can do that.  Still can’t see how you do the eSIM but I’m going to leave well alone on the basis if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

Glad it's sorted.

Regulars here are advising people to stay away from eSIMs on O2 unless it is essential.
