I have a iPhone 14. Recently when I answer a call the caller can hear me but I can’t hear them. The same occurs if I make an outbound call. I don’t even hear the outbound ringing sound, but the other persons phone rings.
It’s not an issue with the signal as it happens wherever I am, and my husband is also on o2 with the same phone and his works.
It’s not a problem with the speaker as I can hear audio from music/video, and calls over WhatsApp work fine. Also tried making a call with headphones in and still can’t hear the other person.
It doesn’t matter who I call and from which location.
I have tried:
- turning phone off and on
- turning off Bluetooth
- cleaning speaker and mic
- resetting network settings
- updating to iOS 17.2
This has been happening very intermittently for the past few weeks but now seems a permanent issue.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and found a solution?

You could try a new sim card.
Pop into your local O2 store with photo ID and they will swap it for you.

If the suggestion made by @MI5 of trying a new SIM doesn't work, you could visit an Apple store and ask them to run diagnostic checks on the handset :-

Have you though initially of trying your husband's SIM in your handset and your SIM in his handset ? That just might help you to narrow the problem down to SIM or 'phone.

Can be done remotely without leaving home.

It is
But more likely a fault with sim / network as other calls and audio work fine.
