hi there, just wondering if it's possible to pick up dab radio without it eating through my data package on my s4 please?

I doubt it very much. Reading about what's available tends to point to low quality apps and extremely high data usage. Good luck and let us know if you find anything.

ok pal. thanks for the reply. will have to talk to o2 i think. being charged, via my data tarriff, for what is a free service can't be right. surely?

It might be a free app but to use the service itself will require a wifi or data connection

Streaming any media will charge you for data I'm afraid.

What free service are you referring to?

Lots of services are free but as jonsie says the data required to connect isn't unless you use a wifi hotspot.

Are there any mobiles / tablets with in built DAB tuners ? if not then it wil be a streaming service so chargeable

There are but the OP stated he wanted to integrate on the S4 which isn't compatible without an app, none of which are true Dab or have a decent write up.
