This has been mentioned in another thread but deserves a section of its own I think. @MI5 and myself have noticed a changed to Contact Preferences. Initially I had opted out of Marketing info....today we noticed there is a new layout for the page and suddenly mine have been turned on...Advise everyone to check. Mine looks like this...(or did as I have now turned off everything except Priority) @Toby is currently checking when these changes took place..

Good shout @Cleoriff, just checked mine. My third party marketing preferences is set to off, which is what I would expect. No idea why it could be changing for you guys. Similarly I haven't been experiencing the CPW calls that others have reported in the past week.

Do you always get your devices directly from O2, or would you purchase from resellers as well? Batch processing of incorrect marketing preferences from resellers could be one possibility I guess. Dozens of other possibilities as well. Not nice either way.

And no, all my contracts are direct from O2, the ONLY possibility is an error on their end, not ours.
Company rhetoric won't work this time.

I've had my present phone for 18 months and got it direct from Samsung. Preferences have always been set to off for years and years so someone has cocked up big time.

All my accounts directly from O2 - always turned off everything - No excuses will be acceptable this time I'm afraid !

The onus is on O2 to offer an explanation, although I doubt that the people being inundated with these garbage calls will accept just that. I really hope Ofcom gets wind of this. If it's proved to be O2's error, a heavy fine is in order, but that will still be cold comfort to the possible millions of people whose phone numbers have now been compromised and are now being subjected to these unwanted calls through no fault of their own.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

I'm honestly really eager to hear some of them, because I know 100% my preferences were turned off when I first started my contracts and always have been off until I checked for the reason why I am getting 3-5 spam calls a day for the past 3 weeks or so.

Nothing has changed on my contracts at all, no upgrades, downgrades, paying off of any device plans etc yet O2 has somehow mangaged to turn ON ALL of the buttons that I originally turned off.
