Are you sure the settlement offer was from O2 and not a "trusted partner" like Aerial Communications or CPW, as I've never heard of O2 doing this?
Accepting an upgrade offer from a cold call can be fraught with risk.

It actually does sound as if the phone call offer the husband received was probably from a trusted partner? If it was Aerial this is probably why, when you rang O2 they refused to give you the same. It may well be your husband was offered a business contract, if it was Aerial he dealt with.....

I would say it was almost certainly a trusted partner and if indeed it was Aerial I would be thankful not to get the same call. Has your other half received any paperwork at all?

No it was definately O2.
I'm on a refresh contract...was talked into that by O2,

That's probably why you weren't offered a deal by O2. The Refresh tariff is considered pretty good, in that once the device plan is paid off....you can walk away. No other network does that...
