Phones Charges Whilst in Paris

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am writing this post having just recieved my monthly bill.

My Bill was greater than normal because my partner and I went to Paris to celebrate getting Engaged,

unfortunatly we arrived in Paris on that fateful day of Friday 13th of november when the very tragic events took place, we were there through until Monday 16th.

Whilst we were very fortunate not have been in those areas at the times when the shootings took place, naturally family and friends were concerened and hence we both recieved lots of calls to our mobiles and returned those calls and texts.

My partner has a phone contract with Vodafone and recieved her bill, they sent her an email advising her thet they had noticed the time and of course the location she was in ie. Paris so they would be deducting all charges incurred by her for that time she was there !

It may seem a small thing to everyone but for us that was amazing, thoughtful customer service.

Well done Vodafone !

Very thoughtful indeed, and I concur with your praise of Vodafone CS. Does anyone know if O2 offered the same thing? If they didn't, they certainly should.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

The question was asked of o2 at the time as even the networks in Thailand were giving free calls. If I was you I would call customer  service for their thoughts on your bill. I'm sure that given the free calls they supported in the past to areas of conflict and disasters they may have been told to credit charges in Paris that weekend. Due to it being weekend there was probably no one in a position to sanction free calls at the time.

Is there anything official on this @toby?

Yes Vodafone was very quick to step up to the mark on this one and if I remember when we initially asked about O2's plans they did say there was World Chat to help. I am sure I read somewhere though that they had offered to reimburse customers calls and text charges?

I could only find this from @Toby

I would still call, maybe a bulletin has gone out to advisers to be sympathetic.  I live in hope....

It is strange, O2 were quick off the mark with the events in Egypt, etc.

I was surprised at the unsympathetic response from o2 also.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
