O2 proactively sending out outage notification texts?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Just had my Mum ask me about a text she has received warning about an upcoming service outage which has a post code listed in it (not ours)

When I have looked it up both our Post Code and the one in the text it says there is a mast problem, now the PC in the text points exactly to where I know there is a mast which I believe to be our nearest serving cell.

Just out of curiosity, do O2 now send out notifications proactively to those they know are logged onto a cell they are taking out for maintanence?

I haven't received one but then again I'm on giffgaff so technically a different provider although they use the RAN of course.

I've had texts informing me of planned maintenance before.
I assume they go by registered account postcodes.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Yes they do. I’ve had a few text’s before for planned maintenance or upgrades to the network in my area
