Are o2 and virgin looking to create a new company like Orange and T Mobile did when they merged?

The last rumour I heard was it was going to all become o2 but as it say it was all Conjecture and rumour.

So long as prices don't rise (which they undoubtedly will) I'm not fussed if they merge.
As for it taking so long - it's because of covid @jonsie!
