So just a wee update on this. The plan (still in early development) is to use a universal sim that can be put in tablets (or dual sim phones) that will contact to networks partnered with MS. You can then use your existing MS account and payment methods to buy blocks of data. So if you were is France, you could buy 1GB, use 500MB and come home to UK, then the next time you travel the other 500MB would be available to use.

Your MS sim can have bundles of data for each country you visit and they could be purchased before you even travel via your MS account. The idea is for the data not to expire. Thus reducing "data bill shock" when travelling.
