Did you know that if you encrypt your handset you void your warranty.

I have an issue with my phone Sony Z1 and I wanted to send it off for repair but as I have encrypted my phone which is a standard factory feature I have voided my warranty.

I have spent the last 2 hours on the phone to O2 and using the webchat to find this out from 4 different people.

My advice don't encrypt your phone.

It would be an idea to give them a try....

Sony repairs are less than useless, when I first got this phone it bent it was sat on my desk at work on charge and you could see the phone moving and bending, Sony were aware of the issue with the Z1 bending and it even made it to national tv on whatchdog but they would not replace the phone and voided the warranty on it, luckilly O2 replaced the unit

We have a Sony expert on here @viridis and I think he rates Sony repairs...

I am not disputing you had a poor experience with them but we usually hear good things about Sony nowadays They are vastly superior to O2 repairs anyway ......and would be another route to try...

    See for yourself, the boys are right, no mention of encryption anywhere on the warranty. You should contact Sony.

Send it to Sony and don't listen to the absolute nonsense given be ill-informed and under-trained 'advisers'. Shakes head in amazement
