Changing number over

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello

My partner took out a contract for me years ago with o2 in his name and he now wants to cancel it. I have ordered an o2 monthly sim and want to transfer the number I have been using on the contract over to my new sim only deal. How do we do this?

It's a simple call to 202 but as it's in your partners name they need to call.

Your partner merely needs to request the number to be transferred to a P&G sim card after closing the account. O2 will send the simcard out by Royal Mail.

Just to add you can then transfer that number to your monthly sim only account.

Pay Monthly CS can close the old account and port the number on to the new account straight away by speaking to you both in the one call. There shouldn't be any need to put the number on a PAYG sim card.

That account would then be in the partners name which maybe not what the OP wants having already ordered the sim only contract

As long as both parties are there for the phone call, the number can be moved from one account holder to another.

Read the opening post and you will see that the contract has already been take out and the sim ordered. Changing now would mean cancelling and starting again with all the messing about and jumping through the hoops that o2 toss around without a care in the world.

I read the opening post. That's incorrect - the customer would not have to cancel their new contract, nor would they have to jump through any hoops other than the one phone call.
