Apple has said it is working to fix a serious bug within its Mac operating system.

The flaw in MacOS High Sierra - the most recent version - makes it possible to gain entry to the machine without a password, and also have access to powerful administrator rights.

“We are working on a software update to address this issue,” Apple said in a statement.

Bit worrying for Apple Mac users...

Excellent news.

They say "This morning, as of 8am PT, the update is available for download, and starting later today it will be automatically installed on all systems running the latest version (10.13.1) of MacOS High Sierra.”

That should relieve some anxiety anyway...

The workaround was to change the password for the user account.
The issue is that it was not published that there was a hidden user account.
It really would not surprise me if there were others that are yet undiscovered...

Thanks for sharing @Cleoriff!

I won't restart my MAC till they fix it scream

Apple times are gone cry "someone" must be turning in his grave!

Oh you're not wrong there, sadly the money men now rule at apple, and have been pi$$ing on Jobs grave since.

Steve Jobs created the mobile world we live in, each year they pushed new tech, innovated from his ideal of the device being an extension of you, to be yourself, to think different.

Now, they are so far behind that tech writers are praising a 1440p oled screen as the great second coming, no innovation, just rebranding existing features. it's an extension of your social status, be part of the crowd, think sheep.

I mean honestly, the iPhone X is very much a £1100+ emoji machine, it has nothing, literally nothing else going for it, even apple know this all their X adverts are based on stupid animojis.

Yet if you read the Apple Mega thread there are still many, many customers jumping up and down to get the iPhone X. And those that have received their new phones love it. Clearly there's no accounting for taste. I wouldn't have a new iPhone X if Apple paid me £1,000 😜

You don't know how much I do agree with you @viridis! And trust me, not an easy thing to say.  I have been a huge fan of Apple always! But now, I am just Astounded
