My first phone was the Nokia 5110, then the 3210 & 3310. Think my favourite phone & I wore it out for about 2 years was the Samsung X460 flip phone

The Motorola StarTAC 130 was my first phone  Smiley Indifferent

The advertised 50 hours standby time was a bit optimistic, and I think I charged mine almost every day. I thought it was quite cool at the time, but looking back now, it really was quite rubbish. Mind you, I think they got that clamshell design just about right, when they finally introduced the RAZR.

I used to work in o2 stores when the iMode devices came out.

£35 a month used to get you like 100 mins and 100 texts or something daft like that.

When the 18 months contracts launched, we all said they would never work...

And our biggest selling device was the Samsung D500 or Sony K750i slight_smile

Now the Sony Ericsson K750i was a decent phone, and its 2 megapixel camera was arguably the best at the time. Mind you, that shows how easily impressed we were with such modest advancements in technology (read this review). I know that there are some on here who hate Apple with a passion, but there’s no denying that the iPhone was the first smartphone that was worthy of the name, and we only had to wait a couple more years for it to arrive.

And yes tariffs were really expensive back then, and it’s interesting how we’ve arrived at a stage where there’s really not much profit to be made out of call allowances anymore. A lot of people nowadays would probably balk at paying a fiver for such a meagre allowance.
