The problem with these big TV's is that the average UK home is really too small to take advantage of it. Then you start to notice all the details you really don't want to see. The 55" in our house just about works but then again we knocked a wall out (it wasn't for the TV before you say it. That came later). Anything bigger and it just dominates.
The other problem is that there's going to be a need to have (for producers) a rather large hard drive array to process these amounts of footage which leads onto the perennial issue of what do you do with the lack of money to pay for storing long term. I can see a lot of programming being deleted forever intentionally or un-intentionally.
Good for quality to record at high resolution as it can be downgraded but SD is good enough now so it will be around 30 years before we see the benefits of recording at 4K/8K. Then again, the quality of content isn't going to help longevity for viewing public to bother with.

Think 49" is just right for my living room i have freeview and my son got a Netflix account which he's set up on my tv but i rarely watch anything on it lol.
My recording box and catchup tv along with freeview channels do me fine
