why do O2 use DHL?

I just purchased my HTC HD7 on thursday and was really looking forward to it on friday....friday came and was in all day waiting anxiously for it.
Midday came so i thought i would check the DHL tracking website,
8am: out on delivery
12pm: changed delivery van
5pm: couldn't reach consignee
6pm: No One To Receive Card Left
hang on a minute.....i was in all day waiting for this parcel, i did not hear any door bell ring....i also kept checking outside to see if i could see a van...so how on earth did it say "no one to receive"? also no card was left!
worse thing is i have to wait till monday because they dont deliver on saturdays unless the person who sent it pays an extra £10, this was suppose to be a next day delivery!
can you not choose a better company to deliver like parcel force?

I've seen this tracking info on other couriers. What happens is if the driver cannot either find the address or has run out of time, that's what they'll put down. It may be that an event has caused the delay e.g. accident which is really out of everyone's hands. The clue is the bit above leaving a card.
Anyway in defence of DHL, I can't praise them enough for their pickup and delivery service as everything I've sent through them has been delivered with no problems. Consequently my experience of Parcel Force deliveries is not as good but its the same of most courier services: you get good service and sometimes you don't.

All delivery companies have their good and bad days.
I can't see o2 ditching DHL anytime soon, the telefonica group have a huge contract to supply DHL with communication services. wink

Bear in mind that DHL make hundreds of deliveries per day so things can go wrong on the odd occasion. Personally, I have had deliveries from them (not just O2 packages) on many occasions without problems apart from one time where delivery was re-scheduled to the following day (snowing heavily).

That's a massive underestimation, worldwide think in at least the tens of thousands per day slight_smile
Having worked in the logistics business for many years, I know it's not easy, or even possible, to get it right just 95% of the time.

Didn't want to over-exaggerate, but yes, that's the point tongue

Similar thing happened to me. Waited in all day and no one ever came. I finally phoned my "local" DHL depot (30 miles away) To find that the phone was back there as they couldn't find my address.
When i queried why my address couldn't be found on the drivers sat nav, I was imformed that the drivers don't use them
