o2 killed my Yahoo account

Anonymous
Not applicable
I just signed up to pay monthly with o2 and asked them send the bill to my personal Yahoo email account.

As soon as I left the shop I lost all the sent items from my Yahoo account AND it also sent spam to everyone in my address book.

So now I'm a viagra dealer and everyone I know past and present will have an offer from me.

This is a serious breach of privacy by o2 and will not be tolerated.

Giving o2 your email doesn't mean they get any access to your yahoo account. It was merely a coincidence your account was stolen at the time you took out an o2 contract. but it was nothing more than a coincidence, o2 do not have access to your yahoo password.

I must admit that I find it hard to believe that this could be tied to O2.

I have seen a big increase in the amount of Viagra ads in my junk mail folder in the past few weeks, all through my Yahoo email address which O2 hasn't even heard of.

Coincidence maybe? Let's hope so.

No coincidence.

The date and time on the till receipt from o2 is EXACTLY the same as the error on my Yahoo account.

Also, I'm on a Mac and have never had a virus or had anything like this happen.

Its your personal yahoo account so you have your personal details about it, O2 would not ask for any passwords or usernames, so you either downloaded a trojan yourself or you need to improve your computers security.
This is total coincidence.

This has to be an obvious wind up?

I find it very hard to believe that anyone would think that just knowing someone's email address is enough to access their account.

I'm not saying that someone at o2 has used my email address to access my account. I'm aware that it takes more than that to do this kind of damage.

What I am saying is that as soon as the guy in the o2 store confirmed all my details on his computer screen and clicked OK (or whatever he had to click to authorise my contract) it happened instantly - within seconds.

There is no way that at the exact same time I got a new phone contract, someone else hacked my account. What are the odds?

I have two other email accounts but I gave the Yahoo address as my billing address to o2.

I have to credit Yahoo though. They have reacted very quickly and restored my sent items, although I'm still getting error messages and people saying they've been spammed by me.
