2 weeks seems pretty good, when it took a week for the complaint to be sent to the right department.
It looks from talking to other people they have been upgrading the 3g 16 & 32gb for a while as they have been off sale for a long time. The major problems appear to be with the 8gb because that is nearly out of sale, so there are still lots of refurbs coming out.

tonight i`ve just sent the CEO of o2 uk a email and telling him what has went on with my claim and hope he can sort it out

Not a chance of a personal reply mate. It will go to general complaints but still well done for keeping up the pressure.
