O2 and Vodafone have signed a deal that will see the operators share Arqiva's 16000+ masts for the next 10 years.

This is planned to rapidly speed up both networks 4g roll out!

But this is similar to fixed telephony. Where companies share the digging up of roads using third parties. To save on cost and disruption. They then install their own fibres. But the electronics on the ends are usually their own. They don't share that.

I guess this is a similar principle. Where the fibre back haul and the mast is shared. But the difference here is that the radio spectrum is also shared. Anything to improve coverage is welcome.
