o2 Dongle

Hi

My son bought an o2 dongle for our holiday for his laptop, it was rubbish. It was very slow and he had to keep reinstalling the software for it to work. Sometimes it woudn't  reinstall at all. wouldn't buy one again, waste of money. Anyone else had this problem?

I have a 3 mifi device that creates it's own wireless hotspot have to say the coverage has been great but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired

I never had a problem with their CS (where I live) I walked into the shop...picked up the device (which was only required at home (UK) on a temporary basis). She explained I could top up online if required and that I could use it abroad.

I DID have a slight problem with that when I took it to Spain.....but I that was more my fault than the 3 Dongle as I was trying to use it on my netbook which 'lives' in Spain and I couldn't get my head round the set up process LOL

Certainly using it in my own home gave me excellent coverage with no problems at all.

I've always found their cs to be very good too on the odd occasion I've needed them......
Can't say I've needed them all to often though slight_smile

*Ahem*....and maybe had you 'popped to Spain and dropped by'......I would have been able to use this 3 dongle while I was there....Evil

Never mind, now with Wifi, I no longer have use for such things Bouncy

Oddly I couldn't get a signal on my MiFi this year when in Devon. It has always been a bit hit and miss involving balancing it on top of an open upstairs window, but couldn't pick up a 3 signal at all. No point in trying a different network SIM (mine is unlocked) as at best it was giving occasional GPRS on the phones,.

I've only had to deal with their CS when my daughter was sent a letter from a collections agency for someone with a completely different address and I can only say I wouldn't want to have to go through anything like that again.

You expected to get a 3g signal in Devon @aldaweb?

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Ever the optimist.
Most of Devon either has 2g or no signal. It was even worse today as I drove through Cornwall.

This the first year I've been unable to get the MiFi to work so yes I did expect.Smiley Frustrated

In fact once I'd left the coast for higher ground (and toggled 3G back on) I did have 3G from all the networks I use, but you can't keep driving a few miles just to get a signal. wink

Argh once you leave either South Devon towns and cities or North Devon's main two towns that is your lot I'm afraid. As fit Cornwall, naff all outside of the main towns.

The South West has VERY POOR coverage from o2 I'm sorry to say and that isn't me just whinging, I travel much of the South West and am thinking of getting a second phone on another network as o2 just doesn't cut it I'm sorry to say.

Don't bother with Voda then, I was meeting my friend their last year and though I at least had voice coverage they could receive neither voice nor text there, and EE were just 2G except where O2 had 3G too. 3 was no better either.

We were in the North around Woolacombe, Braunton and Ilfracombe.

Sounds about right for North Devon @aldaweb.

I was in Torquay the other day too. Had a h+ signal and full bars but couldn't get any connection. Capacity issues I am sure.

Yesterday in Penzance 3g h+ fine but as soon as our of the town centre 2g or no signal and only 2g for much of the journey home if I had a signal at all.
