digital economy act

Hi,

I wonder where there might be some details regarding:

* o2broadband position/s(?) during the consultation period in regard to the digital economy act.
* o2broadband current position and plans for the future.
* o2broadband's initial reaction to the act. (..i noticed a reaction from talk-talk on http://www.talktalkblog.co.uk/2010/04/0 ... a-wash-up/ - is there any word from o2..?)
* o2broadband advice to customers, if any, in face of a changed context..

Thanks!

Any tips - much apreciated!

What a strange thing to say. Laws can be repealed but you can't repeal an object. I don't see what speed cameras have to do with the act?

Strange that. I just came through Swindon on Tuesday and the satnav kept beeping for cameras though I didn't see any. Did see some road markings though. Mind you the satnav is a few years old and won't update on TomTom. Guess its time to splash out on a new one.

Maybe something like http://www.broadband.coop/ is better for people who do not want to let their ISPs milk their cash, and do nothing..
Just an idea.. One of many possible ways..

Would you believe that I've been to Swindon several times and actually missed that joyous piece of civil engineering. It actually is quite good in principle but we're not trained to drive that way.

That's the best part of it, you can follow the roundabouts, or just drive straight across it, great fun.

Here is an example for one of the questions related to o2 behaviour in the face of the debill.

If "protection" firms are going to use the identyfiable IP addresses o2 gives its customers, to put o2 customers on the dock based on a guilty till proven otherwise - will o2 begin to better annonymise their customers?

(..o2 has said they will provide full details of customers when courts ask for them - and will not inform customers of such actions..)

The Reg reports that researchers demonstrated a way to easily track bittorent users.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/04/30 ... us_spying/

I wonder if o2, as part of its said commitment to help protect users privacy and details - except when asked by a court order - is going to help annonymaise o2 customers IPs...?

Given http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/10183820.stm - ofcom's demand of ISPs to provide information about their users, is o2 going to comply or fight for users rights?

Perhaps if you wrote to O2 at their head office you will get an answer, I doubt if you'll get one here.
