cn anyone tell me if you can zoom in with the camera. dont know if i am just missing something or it is not an available function.

There is camera zoom on the app store but it is just a digital zoom not an actual zoom. So picture quality will get worse.

You will rarely find an 'actual' zoom with a phone anyway.
Download that application if you wish, it will loose quality, but you will find this with any mobile phone.
