Will I be able to get a contract?

Anonymous
Not applicable
Im 18, no previous credit history.

Just worried as i will be booking thursday off work and going down to my local o2 shop.

Last thing i want is to be in a queue of people and about to sign a contract and get turned down because i didnt pass the credit check.

I am planning to go onto the £40 a month for 24 months contract, paying £89 for the phone.

Any thoughts on the situation?

Thanks

O2 said it was current mobile customers and broadband customers.....the broadband bit I thought was a bit strange. Why not apply it to the whole lot of O2 products in that case

When I was 18 and got my first contract and then another couple I never had any issues. Everyone seems to be so caught up in the Credit check, granted having nothing can go against you when looking for credit but generally it doesn't go against you for a mobile phone. If however you have bad credit and have defaulted on payments then your more likely to have a contract refused or be asked to pay a desposit which will only be returned to you if you manage to pay the first three months bills on time. Then they know that they have the money from you incase you do default

any existing O2 customer can get the iPhone 4 tomorrow. Whether you upgrade, go from PAYG to pay monthly or just get out a second contract. I got my first contract at 18 and it was all fine, no questions asked.

I'm in an identical situation. Even looking at the same plan. My car insurance was set out over 4 months though as short term credit, and it was all payed so may go in my faver (but i'm unsure weather the credit was under my fathers name or mine despite me paying it)
