Wifi disabled on iPhone?

wifi option to turn it on and off is totally greyed out on my phone??

all other connection type things are working fine on my iPhone like calls and 3G (had to travel 15miles to test that one tho) and popped into the O2 store (having travelled said 15miles) and explained that having tried various setting changes, reboots, resets nothing has worked so far.  The assistant tried all while in store with the same result and suggested that a full wipe of the phone would be the only other answer and have to send away for this to happen.

This really isn't an option for me as my mum is in hospital after a stroke and my dad is 350 miles away in hospital trying to get over a bone marrow transplant... Seriously!

I was hoping somebody might haanytime bright ideas on how to get this fixed without losing my phone?

Thanx

Do not go to the o2 shop book a genius appointment at your nearest apple store and they will have you sorted on the spot o2 will send the phone away for repair (assuming it is still in warranty)

You don't need to send phone away to do a full wipe and restore. You can do it yourself. Back up to iTunes, wipe phone from settings menu then restore from your backup. Alternatively go to an Apple store and they will exchange a faulty phone on the spot providing it is under warranty for free (or for a fee if not).

Tad pensive about doing it myself, purely for the reason that if I muck it up and can't get my phone working again, my nearest apple store is 80 miles away, and probably get the "stupid" speech and no comeback or help to sort it out because I've done it myself.. Lol

Have you tried resetting your network settings as that can do it or reset your router

Ok, so backed up phone to iTunes. Reset router and rest network settings first.  Initially it started up great, no problems and at 1.00am I'd had enough.  This morning, I'm able to turn wifi on and off but "unable to join the network" have rebooted the router and reset the network settings again. re-entered the password but still having no luck on getting onto wifi...

Delete the SSID you are trying to connect to from your phone and re search for it.

Have tried that, no luck.. finally plucked up courage and erased phone and settings.  restored phone and wifi back to being greyed out. Erased again and set up from scratch, but when it came to set up wifi, it wouldn't connect. Think I'm just going to have to brave the -12 oC and go to O2 shop.. 😞
