Why I chose to change to Android with Samsung S6

Anonymous

So I have been a loyal Apple fan for many many years owning each iPhone since the 3G onwards.

But after all this time I have decided going to Android devices was a very big brave leap for me as I loved Apple's simplicity of things.

First of all I changed because what I love the most is how customisable android is, which leads me to Samsung, I love how innovative their phones are, such little but pleasing features to me such as the little notification light and the idea of wireless charging.

I got my iPhone 6 at launch and I was pretty much in love with it straight away such a sleek design and iOS was definately improving however it just wasnt enough. Screen size has always been a big concern for me as small is too small and big is too big but Samsung really master the screen sizes across all models theres something for everyone.

Anyone else out there whos decided this year was the time for big change?

(Still getting my head around all the settings and choices!)

With it being 14 days for cooling off I didn't want to prolong it, its not all bad news, by doing this I can change to a 30 day rolling sim only for my iPhone 6 until I want to upgrade etc. I just dont think I'm cut out for Android its very technical for me.

Ahhh well each to their own. I have to laugh re your comment about Android being too technical for you. I am the biggest technophobe going...so I should be honoured LOL Anyway....best of luck with your choice....:smileywink:

Shame you didn't try android on the try the tech scheme. Given a decent trial and I'm sure you would have been won over.  Still, if simple is what you want...

@Toby @Anonymous I decided to go back to Apple! I'm just not cut out to be an Android girl it seems, the simplicity of Apple still wins me over even if Samsung create attractive, cute phones 😞

Its not he first time I've heard this from someone @Anonymous slight_smile

When you're used to one OS and design, its often easier to stick with it. I've tried all of them. They all do most of the same things, so its simply down to personal choice slight_smile

Yes that's it @Toby many things I loved about Android and many for me that weren't good enough compared to iPhone. The main deal breaker for me is that I have a Mac and of course two apple products work way too well with each other to break that chain

So why on earth buy two different androids....seems your mind was already made up to stick with Apple.

I've read this thread right from the start, and it definitely strikes a chord with me.

I've owned dozens of Android handsets, but keep coming back to Apple. There's no denying that Android is a much more comprehensive, more accessible and more customiseable OS.

However, that being said, I own an iPhone, a Macbook and an iPad. My girlfriend has an iPhone. My mum has an iPhone, My sister has an iPad, the majority of my friends have an 'i' device of one sort or another, so it just makes it SO much easier for me to share content with them. iMessage is fantastic and Photo Stream is great, to name two. It's lovely for me to be able to shoot a video clip of my little boy and immediately share it with my family without needing to do anything more than adding it to the relevant photo stream. I realise that Android has very similar apps, but personally I think Apple win on simplicity and ease of use.

Speaking of simplicity. iOS is without question a more 'simple' OS than Android. But as much as that is a limitation for some, it's also one of its main attractions. Then there's the issue of updates. In my mind, Android has now become too fragmented. If you buy the latest Android handset, there's no guarantee that you'll get the latest OS a few months down the line. With Apple, the update is rolled out across all devices. Apple users will get iOS 9 regardless of whether they have an iPhone 4S or 6 Plus...

And then there's the customer service. I don't think anybody can deny (love it or hate it) that Apple has the best customer service around, which was perfectly demonstrated recently when I had an issue with the camera on my 6 Plus. I don't have an Apple store near me, so I spoke with a representative who sent out a package to return my iPhone in. Within 3 days I had a brand new (and by brand new I mean BRAND NEW with a fresh 12 month warranty) phone. Can't ask for more than that.

I think we'd be silly to say that one OS is 'better' than the other. Each has it's merits, and what might appeal to one person might not appeal to another. Personally, having had a lot of experience of both, I'm going to stick with Apple for now.

I don't care what rank I am and neither should anyone else.

As you say @Mark_1980 each to their own. I have one son who is Apple mad.....his partner is a Samsung girl...My other son is an Android user........as are the rest of my family. So we could start this age old debate over and over again.....but no intention of doing so.

As an aside....I see you have changed your name from BarneyBallbags  to @Mark_1980. Good ...It is much easier to use your name when I reply now..:smileywink:
