Who have o2 passed my details onto?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Am in a very annoyed mood right now so this will probably sound like a rant!

I am due/eligible for an upgrade of my handset/contract with o2.

So why am i getting constant calls from so called o2 affiliates trying to sell me one and sign with them? I questioned one caller, who admitted we have nothing to do with o2!!

How have they got all my details?

Only o2 hold them details as far as i am aware.

Had about five calls now from different companies in the last month, current one today was 'mobile solutions' iirc. WHO? Never heard of them or the others (of which i cant remember their names) and am sick of the cold calling.

If i find out it was o2 who has somehow compromised my details i will not be very happy and will pursue the matter further by some means. I do not need a third party selling me something i never knew i needed!

If you go into My O2 I believe you can opt out of being contacted. I would think that all network providers do exactly the same.

Good Afternoon and Welcome to the Community Forum,

I've just fielded such a telephone call too.

I just say I'm happy with everything and do not wish to discuss any account details whatsoever, and end the call.

Never upgrade or take up a Contract from a cold call is best practice.

Thanks for that info, it seems there was no opt out box initially then, as i always tick it!

It now gives me greater pleasure telling them to '*bleep* off' when they phone up!

This is the first year i have had this and i have been a o2 customer since they started (cellnet previously) Seems they needed their coffers boosting by selling them after all. Grrrr!

Will be sending a strongly worded letter this afternoon then wink

@I disagree, bob. @Anonymous, be as aggressive as you like. If they don't like hearing foul language, then they shouldn't call. I'm sure they're all pretty thick-skinned and probably get it all the time. Sending a letter won't make a difference. If you haven't opted out, you agree to the calls. I'm sure you'll find that all the networks do it. They make money by letting these vermin use their data bases.

I believe the OP is writing a letter to 02 to remove themselves from this, not to the 3rd party company.

Its just my way Bambino regarding how I conduct myself.

Treat others how you would like to be treated yourself.

I thought the OP had found the opt out in My O2. Maybe I misinterpreted the post.

You are entitled to your opinion about this, bob, but cold callers, in my opinion, are the scum of the earth. They neither respect, nor have any regard for your privacy, and as such get treated with disdain by me when they call. That's why we were discussing having the facility to block calls on all phones in another thread. If we had that, this thread wouldn't even have been started.

Totally agree with the some form of blocking software should be in all mobile phones.

Something i'll use when iOS 7 is released.
