Who has placed a pre order with apple today?

I placed my Pre order this morning on a 16GB.

took quite a few attempts and killed my iphone 3g battery just after checkout.

I was told i'd recieve a confirmation email but i havent recieved one yet. if i log onto track my order the apple store shows i have made my purchase.

will i be able to pick up a micro sim simplicity before the release date, does anyone know?

I like that apple have sold the iphone unlocked. i will be looking to leave apple if a slightly better deal is out there on sim only.

has anyone else gone down this route?

I am not sure, to be honest nobody had mentioned preordering on these boards as so far O2 are not doing them.

I've pre-ordered from apple and i got a confirmation. Check the order number you were given / login to your account with apple and have a look.

I'm not sure about the micro-sim thing either - i've registered with o2 information for iphone 4 and hope they send me a micro sim - as a failsafe, i ordered a micro sim for 'ipad' in the hope that they are identical and that they can just migrate my account over to that sim...all else fails i'll carefully trim down my current sim to a micro-sim size so it will fit!

well i know o2 are doing them as they have the simplicity showing a sim only option its just a case of when.

if worst case o2 dont come up with the goods im off. they already screwed me over on my old iphone contract by telling me didnt have unlimited text and needed to buy the bolt on, only to find out months down the line i was getting unlimited text and paying £7 a month for a bolt on. o2 thought i liked having the unlimited texts plus unlimited texts bolt on as it made me a "gold customer"

anyone thats a gold customer to o2 is getting mugged off and they want to keep that sort of person.

thats why i have gone si only. gone are the days of 12 month contracts etc its a rip off.

After doing some maths using the speculative Vodaphone tariff posted yesterday (how different do we expect them to be really!?) I decided to buy sim free and network agnostic from Apple. I am currently on a simplicity 30 day £20/month plan with unlimited data.... and as hatton33 states... if O2 won't provide me with a microsim, I'll make my own slight_smile

After several calls and an email to O2, I have received no useful information about the availability of micro-SIM cards. One O2 representative told me they had some PAYG micro-SIMS in stock but they were not contract SIMS. I said I thought O2 could setup any SIM card to be whatever they wanted. He said the SIMS are different.

In the end I cut down my O2 SIM card using a template I downloaded from the Internet and popped it into an adapter I bought from eBay. It works fine in my iPhone 3gs, so I am assuming it will be OK in my new iPhone 4.

I am very much in the same boat as i have a rolling 30 day simplicity 25 contract with unlimited data, i too have decided to purchase direct from Apple a couple of Sim Free iphone 4's... now i know there is a lot of interest & speculation in whether the standard sim can really be modified to work in a iphone 4, there are a host of how to do guides, but are they really backwards compatible.
Apple have stressed that a iphone sim will NOT work in a ipad, however people who have modified standard sims appear to be able to use the data facility on a ipad without any problems.

I would be very interested to know people thoughts on this issue, and how would i go about ordering a new micro sim.
