It would be great if they publish when and where 4G will be introduced. In my case I have 4G in Manchester but I'm 10 miles away in Bolton and cannot use the technology unless I jump in the car. I won't be doing that but some sort of timescale would be a blessing!

Hi,

I appreciate it's frustrating.

Current Network Future info http://www.o2.co.uk/connectivity/network-coverage/the-next-big-thing

Register here https://www.o2.co.uk/getupdates

And keep checking here too http://www.o2.co.uk/4g/coverage-and-cities

In the meantime check your sim is a 4G variant. It will say 4G on it.

I hope it comes to your area soon.

Hi @Anonymous

Your question is - "When will 4G come to Scotland?"

That is a tough question and nobody on the community knows the exact answer.

O2 are not very good with giving timescales.

Even some areas that O2 claim to have excellent 4G coverage is not necessarily accurate.  4G came to my city over a year ago and I am lucky to have 4G maybe 30-40% of the time.

How long will you have to wait for 4G? How long is a piece of string? I am sorry to sound blunt but that is basically the answer at the moment.

I know it is frustrating hearing O2 talk about its amazing super fast 4G network in many areas and not in your area, however some areas still have not got 3G.

Fingers crossed you don't have to wait much longer.

O2 do have a rolling programme in relation to the 4g rollout via what used to be called the Cornerstone Project in partnership with Vodafone. It is now called Beacon. O2 are doing the North and Scotland and Vodafone are doing the South.

Beacon are not sharing where and when as they don't want to be in a position where customers are given a timescale then due to other issues things get delayed. In essence o2 plan to upgrade 25% of their masts by the end of this year. I have been able to ascertain my own location which is scheduled to be upgraded to 4g during q4 but this is not guaranteed.

You could try contacting complaintreviewservice@o2.com to see if they are willing to update you and if no joy you can try escalating to Higher Level Complaints but there isn't any guarantee they will share the info with you.
