I switched to O2 last month, and have not once been able to use the website to send text messages. I have tried at work and at home, on both IE and Firefox at the latter. The page it tries to go to just never loads up. Any ideas?

I am having the same trouble
I am trying to use O2's free web based text messaging service. When I log into the O2 site at http://www.o2.co.uk/home and select to send a free text message it redirects to http://sendtxt.o2.co.uk/sendtxt/
and returns an error message.
I have tried both Firefox and IE browsers and get the following error messages:
Firefox error message
Failed to Connect
The connection was refused when attempting to contact sendtxt.o2.co.uk.
Internet Explorer Message
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
i have tried adding http://*.o2.co.uk to the trusted sites in IE but still does not load the page.
Can anyone advise us please

It's working for me.

Try logging in first then clicking my O2, send web text.

The site I get taken to is http://sendtxt.o2.co.uk/sendtxt/ and it is functional.

given your reply i tried adding the full url - but still does not work for me - having scoured several forums i think it may be to do with my firewall settings but not sure how to fix. I use BT Netprotect (McAfee)

Maybe consider deleting your browsing history or cookies?

Tried disabling firewall and checking link to http://sendtxt.o2.co.uk/sendtxt/ ?
This will confirm if it's the firewall settings or not. 😞
