Hi all,

I set up my voicemail a while ago, on pay monthly.
I want to set up a pin number so I can access voice mail from another phone.

My ? is if I setup a pin,
does this mean everytime I ring 901.
I have to enter the pin number?
or can I set it up just to be used from another phone.

cheers,

bloke17.

Hi there

Yes you can set it up to just be used from another phone. Just make sure that pin protection is off to do this.

You don't, your pin must be on.

From the set up page on this site:

Having a PIN means that you're the only person who can access your messages. You'll be asked to set up your PIN the first time you access Voicemail 901 or whenever it's been reset to the default.

You can change your PIN at any time by:

* Dialling 901
* Pressing * for greetings and mailbox settings and then 4
* Following the prompts

Your PIN also allows you to access your messages from any touchtone phone by:

* Calling your O2 mobile number
* Interrupting your greeting by pressing *
* Entering your PIN

On other networks,
you get the option for high or low security pin.
low you can dial voicemail without entering your pin,
high you have to enter your pin.
Is this option the same with O2?
I don't want the hassle of entering a pin everytime
but only if I call 901 from another phone.

cheers.

If you are calling 901 from your phone. you do not have to enter your pin number.
A pin number is only necessary if you call your voice mail from a different phone.

There is no low/high security pin - you just have the one pin number. That pin number is 8705 as default. You need to change this number to allow you to retrieve your messages from another phone, otherwise anyone could access your messages.

Hope this clarifies things.

Still having problems,

I dialed 1760 then 1750.
Then I tried to set up the pin,
entered 8705 got the reply wrong pin typed,
then I typed a new pin still got the same result.

Where am I going wrong,
what is the default pin 8705 does not work.

cheers.
