I'm visiting my son in Canada next week, I'm not really very switched on about my phone. I'm nervous about incurring heavy costs, any advice would be most appreciated
Many thanks for the support

Turn off your mobile data completely.
Use free wifi only for any data connection.
Turn off voicemail before leaving the UK, dial 1760 to disable, 1750 to re-enable.
Use phone sparingly, or if you are unlocked, use a local sim card for calls within Canada.

Use TuGo if you are on contract on wifi only.
Better yet, switch off the phone and enjoy every minute with your son. Precious time that is more important than anything else.

Great recommendations guys!
Do we have any "Going Abroad" guide? This could be a good one to develop as there are usually many questions about people going on holiday abroad or going to live abroad...
