My broadband contract with VM recently came to an end and in haggling for a renewal the best deal I could get included an O2 sim. I'm already an O2 customer with more than a year left on my existing contract. I thought my existing O2 contract was being upgraded to an unlimited data package. Instead I have received another sim, another number, and another contract. None of which I need. Do I need to keep this to retain the broadband deal I have agreed? I'm still in the 14 day cooling off period. If I need to lump it and keep the new O2 contract can I change the plan to a limited data amount so that I'm paying only £5/mo for a sim I have no intention of using?

Typical Sales, there was no need to get a new SIM. You were entitled to all the Volt Benefits on Virgin Media with the SIM you already have.

Just return the sim as it's useless to you

Yes you do now have to keep it to keep your VM deal if they have sent you a new SIM card. But you can cancel the SIM card, but your discount will be recalculated, and should stay the same as you already have an o2 account
Best thing to do is call VM on 0345 454 1111
YOU do not have to take a new sim if you are already an o2 customer, it can all be applied with your current o2 account ( I did this in October 2024)...
This is just some scammy agent in Manila earning some commission..

Thanks all. Looks like another tiresome conversation with the VM call center.
