Hi,
I was planning to buy a phone from O2 Pay & Go and wanted to confirm whether O2 support VAT Retail Export Scheme or not. Through this scheme one can claim the VAT charged on the product, if person is non-UK resident and fulfill other criterias.
I visiited O2 store, chat with the people online, called the sales but didn't get satisfactory answer.
Does anyone have any idea that whether O2 supports this scheme or not?

I doubt it very much as O2-UK Pay and Go phones would be locked to the network for 12 months anyway.

No I checked this from O2 and they confirmed that I can unlock it even at the time of purchase. They charge 15 GBP for this.
The only thing I need to confirm is the VAT refund scheme.
Do you have any idea about it?

Not that I know of, all the methods to get in touch are in "Contact us" at the bottom of the page.

As the goods have to be unused as per clause 4 http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pa... how can you unlock it in the uk as the phone will have to be used on the o2 network to register the imei against the sim to perform the unlock therefore will be used / part used goods.
If o2 supported this it would be shown on the t&c section of the website and the shop staff would know about the scheme as they have to do the paperwork. But only o2 could give you a definate answer.

I think thats only applicable for goods like perfume or chocolates as they gave in an example as well. Phones can be used, as long as you have its original packing available with you.
Yes actually you are right, I checked from O2 store as well and they are not very much aware of it so I think O2 does not simply support this scheme.
