Unwanted early morning message from O2

Anonymous
Not applicable
For the last three days at 5.15AM! I have been woken up by a message from O2 stating that I can get "internet acess for less than £1 today" How can I stop getting these or most importantly stop them coming at such a ridiculous time?
I need the phone on 24/7 as I have a relative that may need my help so turning the phone off or putting it on silent is not an option.

Yes, PM'd him with my mobile number but not heard anything yet.
Got it yet again this morning, same stupidly early time...

Chris@O2 has notified relevant people in O2 just waiting to hear more, in the meantime I continue to receive the message every morning at 5.15am. Annoyingly it also prevents txt messages from coming through until it has been deleted...

That bit is down to the phone, or rather SE's notorious firmware. The texts do come through, but you don't get the notification.
Can you let the rest of us know what happens? Somehow this notification seems to have got stuck, so it would be handy to know should anyone else have the issue.

Yes, will keep updating.
PM from Chris@O2 saying he's seen e-mails going round about this problem so hopeful there will soon be a solution.

Woke up in the night and looked at my phone to see the time, 2.20am, and the message was there! (don't know if it "rang" and that's what woke me)
Received the following PM from Chris@O2
Hi
After looking into this in more detail, it seems that your phone is somehow accessing the data network three times a day. The first of these is very early in the morning, and it prompts the network to send you these messages - thinking you're up and using the web on your phone.
Can you go through your phone with a fine tooth comb and make sure that nothing's set to connect without your say so? One example of this is email - have you got your email set to check for new messages? Or it could be something running in the background.
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers
Chris
I've had a look on my phone (I'm not that technically minded though) and found my email is set to look for new mails every 12hrs, I changed my ISP a while ago and as I don't need emails sent to my phone didn't set up the new account on it so it still has the old redundant address. Have deleted this and set the email lookup time from every 12hrs to never. Will let you know if this works.
Thanks for all your help.

I thought it was probably data. We discussed this earlier in the thread. At least you know what it is now.

Well, it looks like it's all been sorted.
Nothing on phone this morning & the first complete nights sleep in over a week!
Did find an "allow messages from your supplier" or something to that effect option in a sub, sub menu in the main text options menu so if today was a lucky co-incidence I'll set that option to "no".
Thank you to Chris@O2, prking and everyone else who put in suggestions.
