We are of an age where to keep ourselves "safe" we decided to isolate ourselves in our house in France during the pandemic. As a result we have received bills, in one case, twice the normal monthly level. Has anyone else been charged for not keeping to "fair use roaming  guidelines"? Or are we alone in what we consider to be an unethical approach to an extraordinary period in all our lives?

Unfortunately o2 (and other networks) are working to the letter of the law, and eu regulations I know of a couple of friends who Maltese and Spanish sim cards have had the same type of charges.

You can try contacting Customer Services, and see if you can get a sympathetic ear
- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

You are quite right. O2 complaints office are indeed keeping to the letter of the law and clearly believe that is sufficient. They could be right. But I will see what the Ombudsman thinks as I think it is worth challenging their behaviour.
