TRANSFERING MY NUMBER

Hi

was wondering if anyone has any suggestions, my friend wants to take over my number as

i am selling her my business and a lot of customers have my mobile number, its a contract with 10 months left to run , she says to settle the contract and ask o2 to transfer my number to her as she is a o2 customer also?

The solution above is correct, however, as mentioned, it is not within O2"s process and so the majority of advisors will not be able to do this for you.

As the Community is public so all customers can check threads for solutions - this is not something which you can call up and just ask for.

Once a number is deallocated, that account will be terminated (and you will be billed for the remainder of the line rental).

Alan is correct, it can be done - but there are reasons it isn't and for consistencies sake, phoning O2 to ask for this will be futile 9 times out of 10. Sorry 😞

Best option is to talk to o2 direct if on a consumer tariff 202 or on a business tariff 8002.

 

It may get complicated you may be able to terminate the contract (at a cost to you) and move the number to a payg sim then transfer it in to your friends contract.

 

But only o2 can advise you fully (do not use live chat to discuss or resolve this)

there are way and means, i work for o2 and the first option given is valid, but you can do it another way provided the adviser you speak to knows what ther are doing and gets permission as it is outside the normal process. you take out a new contract, submit a random number change on the existing contract and then manually transfer the deallocated number, the one she want to the contract in her name, basically a number change, but transferring a dealllocated number to a new contract. It is complicated but the right adviser can do it!

spitz1944, maybe you could send a PM to the OPoster with a direct line to yourself - I strongly suspect if they try this through normal channels it will go horribly wrong?!!
