Stay with 02, and keep number

I currently have a contract with 02 and I pay monthly,  I'm now over contract and want to change my phone.  However the price of the contract is literally half the price going through mobile phone direct instead of my02 upgrade.  So is there any way I can get a phone through mobile phone direct and stay with 02 and keep the same number as now. It seems ridiculous that I can keep the same number if I leave 02 but can't if I stay with them,  I actually have 2 phones that I want to do this with.

You can do it that way @Whu1980 

Take the deal with mobile phones, then when it arrives call o2 and ask them to MIGRATE the number from the old sim to the new one.

I've done that a couple of times.

You can have your number migrated to the new phone which will close your current account

All quite easy to do with a phone call
