Spam phone calls regarding upgrading, due to end of contract.

Anonymous
Not applicable

In the past 2 weeks, I've received 7 calls to my mobile, trying to get me to sign up for a new phone contract. My current O2 contract is up in just over a week. After googling the phone numbers, it seems they are spam / scam attempts which others have received. What I'd like to know is where these people got my information from. They know my name, phone number (obviously slight_smile and the date that my contract ends. Is this customer information being leaked from inside O2? I've given up answering these calls, but I'd still like to know how these people got a hold of my personal details. They have claimed to be from different companies, including O2 (which I know isn't the case).

Under "my choices" there was nothing ticked. I have now ticked "Nothong just now"

The essage "we have saved your choices" appears. With "Now just sit back and wait for all the 02 news and offers pinging your way"

I most sincerely hope they don't.

I have stopped my automatic top-up as I intend to let my balance run down to zero.

I hate cold calls too, always seem to call just when you have sat down to eat your tea!

Does your phone not have the option to block numbers? If not, there apps to do that readily available.

Unfortunately although you have updated your preferences,  don't forget that selling numbers on to all manner of marketing companies is big business.....
