Second hand O2 phone

Anonymous
Not applicable

I just bought a second hand 02 iphone 4 which I was told when I bought it that it was 'locked to 02'. Which I assumed on buying it that it would only accept 02 sim cards. As I am an 02 customer, I bought it. Now that I've put my sim card in it, though it's showing that it has signal, it won't make outgoing calls or texts. I'm now worried that it's a barred/blocked phone and am not sure what to do. Please help.

If you contact o2 via the link at the bottom of the page, they can check if your imei number is blocked. Dial *#06# to get your imei number.

Hi Nadine.

Where did you buy it from ?

Check the service status checker to ensure the masts are ok in your area http://status.o2.co.uk as it may just be a mast issue if the phone is recognising the O2 SIM card.

If your in payg ensure you have credit or enough allowances to make the calls / texts.

Check this in your my02.

If your in contract ensure your bill if due has been paid.
Their are sites online where you can input the phones imei number and it will tell you if he phone is blacklisted.

Try another SIM card as the one your using May be faulty too.

You could ring O2 to ask if the phone is on their blocked lists.

Sounds as if the OP has been well and truly done. Buying a second hand phone on someone's word that it is what they say it is, is a recipe for disaster. You may have thought you were getting a bargain, but all you've bought is trouble. This could turn out to be an expensive lesson.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
