Second Hand O2 Handset, Check its not on contract

Hi, i'm not an O2 customer, i purchased a second hand handset which is locked to O2 on ebay. It came with the original box, charger and usb.
Who do i phone to ask whether this handset is currently on a contract? or on someone's plan, i wish to avoid it being reported as lost/stolen for the insurance payout.
I can't get past the automated voice system, so i require a phone number to actually talk to a human on o2.

Even after checking now there is nothing you can do to stop a fraud claim later it has been reported before on here that a person has checked and 6 months later the fraud was done then you are at the hands of the insurance company.

You could use the email us route selecting I am not a customer. from the contact us page

Also online unlockers are faster than O2, and cost less. What are the advantages of getting O2 to unlock my phone?

If o2 block the handset officially after reported stolen it will not work on any UK network so doesn't matter if it is locked or not.

I have provided you with all the info I can we are all customers here.
You seam to know what you want to do but that is the risk buying from ebay .
Did you get a written invoice from the seller listing description and imei there name and address etc? that would be your only proof later if a claim was made by the seller and the phone was bared.

O2 has confirmed it was last used on pay as you go and that there were no outstanding charges associated with it.
I find it unbelievable that an online representative can be that helpful :mansurprised:
