Scam call immediately after ordering PAYG SIM

Yesterday I ordered a PAYG SIM card. This morning I’ve received a fairly convincing scam call from +441618502959 (a known scam source number) who knew my name, telephone number, and that I’d just ordered an O2 PAYG sim. They also knew a couple of specific but non-sensitive things about my account.

I’ve seen other threads here where people have reported the same thing.

This was far too specific to be random and I’ve never received a similar call. I think that someone at O2 or one of their service providers is selling customer information to scammers. I suggest O2 should investigate this urgently.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
