Renewed my O2 contract............

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi all. I'm a new addition to the forum, just wanted someone elses opinion really. I'm at the end of my contract within the next 2 weeks. Ive been a loyal customer of o2's since the old bt cellnet days. As im in the retail sector and deal with "customers" every day I get bombarded with "is that your best price/can you do me a deal....."

Anyway, I tried this with 02. Admittedly I haven't rung cancelations to get the last chance offer......I briefly toyed with going to EE, but last night renewed with O2 for another 24 months on the refresh contract. So........and just putting it out there.......have I done the right thing ??!! Apart from the odd 1 bar of signal and occasionally very s l o w 3G, ive never had any problems so why leave

Hi and welcome slight_smile
We're still here, so if you're wrong.... so are we wink
There's a bunch of upgrades due soon across the country and of course the nationwide 4g roll out so we're hanging on for much greatness !!

Unfortunately we can't advise whether you have done the right thing or not, that's for you to decide. If you are happy with the network and the tariff that's all that really matters to be honest.

The good thing about the refresh contract is that you can pay off the handset at any time and leave without penalty should you have problems or see a better deal anywhere.

Suppose I just wondered what other people's experience were. As mentioned, my only concern is the very intermittent 3G issue. One day it's fine, then like today completely unable to connect for most of the day. Is this a national issue or localised ? I live around 12 miles from york, and as yet we don't have 4g,and reading older posts york is now 4g live

You can check for 4G by entering your postcode in here http://status.o2.co.uk/
The 3g issue is common and should be addressed with the network upgrades that are ongoing but basically it all boils down to the number of phones that are connected to each mast at any one time - The more phones, the more congestion and a slower data rate, just like your car on a motorway.

People all over the country are having congestion issues but hopefully as the upgrades continue that will be addressed. I'm still with them after 17 years so I'm happy at the moment especially as my area has very recently been upgraded. However, when I next upgrade it won't stop me looking at the likes of EE which gives better coverage in my normal travelling areas than O2...

Hi

It makes sense to go with / stay with a Network that provides signal. So if O2 meet that criteria and your happy with your tariff / cost then you've made the right informed decision. slight_smile

O2 haven't officially stated they are having Congestion Issues but that we as members suggest they may be as they go about upgrading their masts.

I've only had one real issue of intermittent signal for around 2 weeks as my local masts were being repaired.

I receive string signal and around 50mbps 4G so I'm more than happy at the moment.

Live Chat have been fine for low level assistance and Uk Customer Services have been fine too.

It's a limitation of 3g technology, so it will effect all networks at some point or other.
